Habits of Mind by Arthur L. Coasta, Ed. D. and Bena Kallick, Ph. D. are ways to prepare anyone for any challenge that may come their way. It helps you get a better understanding of how you can face a situation that seems difficult at first but when taking time to analyze the problem, it can come to great use. Taking steps in order to improve your way of thinking and overcoming the challenges when it comes to anything in terms school work, or if I get a job. For example, one habit of mind that applies to me is "learmimg to listen with understanding and empathy". It was never the fact that I never listened to someone when they spoke, it was the fact that I would listen but never really listen to their tone of voice or body language. I would hear what they had to say, but I wouldn't really understand the message they were trying to give out. In a way it affected my work because when it came ot analyzing something or someone, I would find myself at a loss for words because the question wouldn't makes sense to me, so my first initial reaction was to not give an answer to the question being asked. I would try to pass it off to someone who did understand it because I felt that if I didnt't understand it,then why even make an attempt to answer it. Of course it affect my grades drastically. I began to see that the more I would pass off a question, I would eventually stop listening, and that lead to me just completely giving up on the class, which lead to me rpeating it and failing final exams. It was almost as if I had threw everything I had going me for me out the window. When I
